Winter Tip- Winter is tough on Fruit Fly cultures and they will benefit from a light misting to keep them humid, and productive. You can place them in a covered plastic tote to help retain humidity this time of year.
Winter Shipping in effect October-May 1st
An additional “Winterizing” fee of $20 will appear in your cart (only one fee per total order). This covers a heat pack, insulated box and the additional shipping costs to ship a larger box. Please note that due to COVID carriers have become unreliable especially in the eastern provinces (Quebec and Ontario are exceptional bad!) Carriers will not guarantee an on time delivery, and we can’t guarantee live arrival. Please select a shipping option that is 2-3 days MAXIMUM. Heat packs are only good for up to 72 hours max. We will select “Hold for pick up” on all live orders. This will hold the package at your nearest Post Office, to reduce risk. We want your live shipment to arrive safely as much as you do, we just can’t guarantee it at this time. Please contact us if you have any questions prior to placing your order, otherwise we will assume you’ve read this notice and have agreed to the terms and conditions, and understand the all the risks involved – No refunds or replacements are offered for delayed and/or DOA packages.
For Calgary Pick Ups, please use promo code “winter” to waive the winterizing fee and contact us to arrange a time to pick up. – Not applicable for any orders being shipped, without contacting us first.
Drosophila hydei is a larger fruit fly at 3 mm in size. This makes them the ideal choice to feed to the larger species of Dart Frogs, such as Dendrobates Tinctorius, Auratus, Leucomelas, Ameerega, Mantella, Hyalinobatrachium, Geckos, and many more.
Fruit flies are an excellent food for dart frogs, tree frogs, chameleons, mantids, anoles, salamanders, newts, many kinds of lizards, spiders, scorpions and more! Unlike other feeders like crickets, fruit flies can not be “gut loaded” This is why it is highly recommended that they be dusted with the vitamins and minerals that your frogs will need at the time of feeding.
All Fruit flies are sold in a 32 oz deli container with a poly fabric vented lid. Our Fruit fly culture media is a mixture that we have developed and tested over many years and have made THOUSANDS of fly cultures with it. We utilize the anti fungal properties of vinegar, and as such their may be a faint vinegar smell to the culture.
