Petri Dish is an excellent solution if you want to encourage egg spawning from your Dart Frogs. By placing a petri dish under a Coco Hut you provide a safe egg laying site. Check the site regularly and clean the Petri Dish as needed. When you Dart Frogs have spawned, remove and replace the Petri Dish. Do place the lid on the newly laid eggs to reduce evaporation. Keep the new eggs moist, by using a spray bottle with RO water. Do not keep the eggs drown in water, only keep them moist. This may require a light misting daily until the hatch into tadpoles.
Using a Petri Dish works best for the following frogs: All of the Dendrobates, such as the Tinctorius, Leucomelas, and Auratus as well as both the Ameerega and Epipedobates species will use Petri Dishes as egg laying sites.
