Neoregelia Bromeliad – One & Only x Little Purple Gem
Neoregelia Bromeliads are vibrant and hardy tropical plants that grow in the canopy of tropical rainforests. This Bromeliad is a medium sized plant, that may vary in size from 8-12″ (20-30cm). They are hardy and an excellent plant that’s suitable for all types of humid terrariums or vivariums and are safe to use with most amphibians and many tropical reptiles. Bromeliads are the quintessential plant to use with dart frog vivariums. Many of the smaller dart frogs such as Ranitomeya and Oophaga Pumilio species will use these plants to lay eggs and raise tadpoles in. Which mimics the behavior these tiny frogs do in the wild. Neoregelia Bromeliads are typically found in the canopy of a rainforest and are considered to be a epiphyte, as such they do not require to be planted directly into the soil. They will gather their nutrients from the rain water and animal droppings left on their leaves. Bromeliads can vary a lot in their colours depending on their hybrid, as well as the quality of light you provide. Bromeliads that are placed under a high intensity plant growing light will show off more of their vibrant colors. Where as bromeliads under less intense lighting will loose some of their vibrant colors and show off more green. We use the Arcadia Jungle Dawn LED Light Bar to achieve and maintain our bromeliads vibrant colors.
