Description
Growable Moss for the Sun or Terrariums
Each bag of Mossify Growable Moss for the Sun or terrariums contains pre-ground fragments of Bryum caespiticium, a slow-growing moss species that thrives in shaded areas but can also withstand direct sunlight when kept moist.
This versatile and resilient moss is perfect for adding a vibrant, green touch to various surfaces, from flagstone joints and pavements to terrariums and garden landscapes.
For Reptile Terrarium Use:
Before you begin, some math is required for best use practises
Each bag contains approx 5oz of moss fragments and will cover approx. 15 square feet.
A common terrarium size for many reptiles is 18×24″ which is 3sqft. So, 1 oz (28 gm) of product will cover a single wall completely.
How to apply to a bioactive reptile terrarium:
- Mix 1 cup water with 1 oz (28 gm) or about 1 cup of moss fragments.
- Allow the moss slurry sit for 10 minutes and the moss fragments will absorb the water and become like a paste.
- Spread and smoosh this paste over any surface you would like to grow moss on. Works perfectly on Mosaic Cork backgrounds, or Pumice backgrounds, custom background blends or apply directly to the soil substrate
- Keep the new moss fairly moist while it gets established. Misting it 2-3 times a day for the first month will be critical to the long term success of the moss. Once it is established (1-2 months) you can reduce the misting schedule.
- Growable Moss for the Sun or terrariums can be used in bioactive terrariums for Crested Geckos, Frogs, Toads, Ball Pythons, Chameleons, Phelsuma Geckos, Skinks, Tortoise enclosures and many other lizards and reptiles.
- It will not grow under heat lamps or dry arid enclosures such as those housing Bearded Dragons and Leopard Geckos.
- It is a slow growing moss, so youll need to be patient while it gets established in the enclosure. Allow 6-12 months for best results.
Some caution is needed for some reptiles
A note of caution, if you are using this moss in a bioactive enclosure that will also have the animal living in it while the moss is getting established
Always be aware of your enclosure humidity levels, as not all reptiles can handle the elevated humidity long term. In these cases, either allow the moss to get established before moving the animal into its home or allow even longer for the moss to get established while the animal is already in its home. Please also refer back to your pets individual needs.

We recommend germinating your Growable Moss for the Sun outdoors. Please make sure the area you want to plant is constantly watered and moist during germination.
