Arcadia Pro T5 UVB Light Kit – 24 inch

Arcadia Pro T5 UVB Light Kit (24”) is one of the best UVB Kits available. Mount them on top of or inside of your terrarium, to provide your reptiles and amphibians with the proper UVB lighting they require.

*UVB lights should be replaced annually. Even though light is being emitted, it is no longer a suitable strength for your animals needs

*Please note that UVB LIGHT DOES NOT travel through glass.

* Please note that the 2.4% Shade Dweller Max fixture MUST be used only with the 2.4% lamp, and they are matching wattages, and not compatible with the others. the 6,12,14% bulbs and fixtures are interchangeable with each other.

 

Which UVB Strength Do I Need For My Reptile?

You will need to research which animals, require which strength, and it can be overwhelming at times

Here is basic general list of a few common animals and the UVB that they require

2.4% UVB: is for animals that live in Ferguson Zone 1-2 these are Shade dwelling reptiles and amphibians, Crepuscular animals and even many nocturnal reptiles.

The light fixture should be mounted minimum 4 inches from the animals closest basking spot.

Arboreal Geckos that are Crepuscular or nocturnal such as: Crested Geckos, Chahoua Geckos, Leachianus Geckos all use the 2.4 UVB as they can climb closer to the light source

Terrestrial Geckos that are Crepuscular or nocturnal such as: Leopard Geckos, Tokay Geckos, Cave Geckos, Viper Geckos and many others all benefit from some levels of UVB. Use with the 2.4 UVB for very shallow enclosures or the 7.0% for standard enclosures. Select either one depending on how far the basking spot is from the light source

Many Skinks such as Blue Tongue Skink and Fire Skink all benefit from low levels of UVB

Most snakes benefit from 2.4% or 6.0% UVB such as: Ball Pythons, Corn Snakes, King Snakes, Milk Snakes, Hognose Snakes, Boa constrictors. Select the light based on the distance of the light source.

Crepuscular Rodents such as: Chinchillas, Hamsters, and African Soft Furred rats will benefit greatly from low levels of UVB light

Birds, such as parrots require UVB lighting as well. The 2.4% is ideal to create the correct basking zone for your birds

Tree frogs and Dart frogs also benefit from low amounts of UVB light.

Even arachnids like tarantulas and other invertebrates like scorpions benefit from low amounts of UVB light. The 2.4 UVB is ideal for these animals

 

6% UVB: is for animals that live in Ferguson Zone 2-3 is best suited for Forest dwelling and understory animals that like some sunshine, but also like to stay in the shade for large parts of the day.

*The light fixture should be mounted minimum 12 inches from the animals closest basking spot. Otherwise, please consider the 2.4% UVB for distances of 4-11 inches

All Day Geckos, such as Phelsuma, Cameroon dwarf gecko and others require UVB lighting. Select the 2.4 or 7.0% based on the distance of the basking zone.

Many forest Chameleons use the 6%UVB

Turtles and Tortoises require UVB light. The 6.0% is ideal for many of these animals.

Many of the animals that are listed in the 2.4% UVB may use the 6% UVB provided there is a 12” space between the lamp and the highest basking spot that the animal uses.

 

12% UVB: is for Desert Dwelling Reptiles that love being out in the sun for much of the day however still want to go into the shade for parts of the day. This includes all reptiles that live in Ferguson Zone 3-4.

*The light fixture should be mounted minimum 15 inches from the animals closest basking spot.

Reptiles that use the 12% UVB include Bearded Dragons, Iguanas, Frilled lizards, many Chameleons, most monitors and many more

 

14% UVB: is for the Dragons! These are the reptiles that bask in the sun at any time of the day. They would live in Ferguson zone 3-4 (mostly 4)

This includes Chuckwalla, Uromastyx, Agama, some iguanas and monitors, and many others

*The light fixture should be mounted minimum 15 inches from the animals closest basking spot.

ProTip

Even though the Arcadia Pro T5 UVB Light Kit will emit light for many years, it does degrade quickly. The UVB lamp will be no longer a suitable strength of UVB for your animals needs, and must be replaced every 12-18 months.

Set an annual reminder on your phone to replace the bulb 1 year from when you install the light. We also personally like to mark the date of install on the metal part of the light with a permanent marker, as we have many lights that need to be changed at different times of the years.

*Extra care should be taken if you are mounting the fixture inside animal enclosures. Especially snake or reptile enclosure. Please mount a cage around the lamp to prevent the animals from touching the light. the fixture or cables. When possible, mount the fixture outside of the enclosure for everyone’s safety.
