Here is a “Pro Tip” for anyone feeding fruit flies.
Are you tired of your fruit flies escaping from you vivarium? Have you done all the fly proofing you can do and fruit flies still get out? Is your partner or spouse getting frustrated with you because fruit flies crawling on the floor? Try this simple trick next time you are feeding fruit flies to your Dart Frogs. This trick works especially well D. Melanogaster fruit flies.
Take a small slice of apple and place it in a back corner of you vivarium. The fruit flies will be attracted to the apple and want to stay in one place for a while longer. This will give your Dart Frogs a chance to get most of the flies before they have time to escape. This also makes it handy to see if you need to add more flies or if there are plenty hanging out at the “Fly Buffet”
