Description
Petri Dish is an excellent solution if you want to encourage egg spawning from your Dart Frogs. By placing a petri dish under a Cocohut you provide a safe egg laying site for frogs.
Check the egg laying site regularly and clean the dish as required. Place the lid on the newly laid eggs to reduce evaporation. Keep the new eggs moist, by using a spray bottle with RO water to mist them.
Do not drown the frog eggs in water, only keep them moist. This may require a light misting daily until they hatch into tadpoles.
We keep our frog eggs on the dishes, inside another container (a plastic shoe box) to help maintain the humidity much easier. This essentially creates an incubator. We keep the frog eggs at room temperature (21-23C) No extra specialty equipment is required.
Using a Petri Dish works best for the following frogs: All of the Dendrobates, such as the Tinctorius, Leucomelas, and Auratus as well as both the Ameerega and Epipedobates species will use Petri Dishes as egg laying sites.
Our Petri Dishes are available for sale and shipping in Canada
