Pear Pods are an excellent way to enhance the look of any naturalistic Terrarium, Vivarium or Aquarium!
Some time called the Mokha Pod, these woody capsule-like pod comes from the Olive tree family (Schrebera swietenioides) and have a unique pear shape and light brown speckled outer shell. Sprinkling pear pods on your substrate will surely make an excellent addition when creating an interesting naturalistic terrarium or aquarium. These little pear shaped pods are commonly used by fish keepers to increase the tannins in the water. Shrimp enthusiasts love these little pods! The physical characteristics of each pod attract a biofilm, providing an interesting foraging surface for the shrimp to feast on. Aquarium keepers will often combine Pear Pods with Alder Cones, Indian Almond leaves and other botanicals to increase the tannins in the water.
Using Pear Pods in an aquarium:
Each pod is approximately 6 cm or 2.5″ long. Due to the nature of this product there will be natural variation in size and color of each pod.
