Isopod Substrate – Nutrient Enriched
Jungle Jewel Exotics Isopod Substrate is a signature blend of natural ingredients, designed to encourage the peak health and explosive breeding of most isopod species.
Made of sustainable, organic and natural ingredients including various soft woods such as Cypress and Fir. We also include Calcium Carbonate in both a powdered and granular form to help meet the calcium needs of isopods. This substrate is not just a home for your isopods, it’s also valuable nutrition.

- 2L great for setting up one culture in a standard 6L plastic shoe box
- 5L is great for 2 starter cutlures, or 1 larger culture in a 15L plastic sweater box

How to use Isopod Substrate
We recommend adding oak leaves or other leaf litter to the mixture to increase the amount of food available for the isopods. Simply layer some leaves into the enclosure and pour some substrate over them. Then add a few more oak leaves on top of the substrate. This will encourage both burrowing, and foraging behavior.
