Description
The Phase 22 Shipping pack act as a temperature sink to provide temperature stability when shipping reptiles, amphibians, and plants. These special shipping pack want to always be at 22° C. Phase 22 shipping packs are specially designed to automatically go through two phases, a “warm” phase, and a “cool” phase, depending on the ambient temperature around them. When used properly they will help maintain your package and its contents at a steady 22° C.
When temperatures drop below 72° F (22° C) a chemical reaction turns the Phase 22 packs material into a liquid that slowly releases a steady warmth. When the temperature rises above 72° F the pack solidifies and releases a steady cool temperature to help protect your package contents.
- Provides thermal protection when shipping products between 15-30°C
- When used as liquid, keeps contents warm
- When used as solid, protects contents from heat
We recommended that you use a minimum of 2 packs per box when shipping live animals.
How To Use A Phase 22 Shipping Pack In Summer
For summer shipping you can place the Phase 22 pack directly inside your shipping box, next to the Animals or Plants container. This will help keep the box and animals inside, cooler. If desired, you can place the Phase 22 in your refrigerator for a few minutes to bring the temperature of the pack below ambient temperatures. You can loosely pack crumpled paper around the Cryo pack to insulate the animal from the cooler temperature of the pack. Do not place in a freezer or store in the fridge.
How To Use A Phase 22 Shipping Pack In Winter
For late Fall, Winter or early Spring shipping you can use Phase 22 packs on their own or combined with a properly insulated box, and appropriate Shipping Heat Packs when temperatures fall below 15° C (60° F) . You will want to place an active Heat Pack wrapped in crumpled paper inside your insulated shipping box. Then place the Phase 22 between the heat pack and your animals or plants that you are shipping. If desired, you can place the Phase 22 in warm water prior to placing in your packaging to increase its temperature before placing into the shipping container. Do NOT microwave a Phase 22 pack.
Heat packs get very warm once they reach their peak temperature, as such, please take precautions not to allow the heat pack to be in direct contact with the animals or plants you are shipping. Winter in Canada can be very unpredictable, and carriers experience delays quite often. As such, we recommend to always allow at least one more day of shipping than the carrier claims to offer. (Please order a heat pack that can accommodate this type of delay) We also recommend avoiding shipping perishable items during the extreme rush of Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Boxing Day/Week sales. Please use good judgement when packing live animals and plants for shipping, their well being are dependent on it.
